Shenzhen, a major city  in the Guangdong Province of China has become one of the  focuses of tourism for the people traveling from Hong Kong and Macau. Aside from its accesibility, the vibrant colors of skyscrapers that illuminate during the nighttime also play a part bringing in tourists. My husband and I went to Shenzhen to celebrate his birthday and decided to book the nearest and upscale hotel near to Shekou District; Ascott Raffles City. Considering we lack of Mandarin language, the serviced apartment is perfect to us since it is connected to the mall and closed to ferry terminal.

LOCATION

Ascott Raffles City is located at the junction of Dengliang Road and Nanhai Avenue in Nanshan District. The prime serviced apartment is 10 minutes drive away from Shenzhen Bay port in Shekou, which makes it an ultimate location for global travelers coming either from Macao or Hong Kong.

ABOUT

Ascott Raffles City offers 182 elegant furnished apartments vary from comfortable studio to three-bedroom apartments. Each apartment has a modern living space, well-furnished kitchen, and high-speed internet. The hotel building itself is quite tall and stands out from its neighboring buildings which gives us a good view of the city at the comfort of our apartment. Besides the cozy apartment, location and affordability; I’m also impressed how accommodating the staff and their ability to speak english.

THE ROOM

Ascott Raffles City offered us a free upgrade to One-bedroom Executive Apartment for our entirety of our stay. I can’t help to giggle while we were at the elevator going to our apartment; we felt very lucky and makes it a good start to his birthday weekend.

Spacious and comfortable bed.

The apartment is fairly spacious. The kitchen is well-furnished with great facilities which greeted us upon entering the apartment. In addition, the apartment has a spacious and luxurious bath that is perfect for relaxing. Such a treat!

THE BREAKFAST

The variety of food provided during breakfast was not that much. It’s possible that some guests are expected to cook at the comfort of their unit, considering its a serviced apartment. There were also a few guests who took advantage of the breakfast,  however you will have to pay an extra charge.

I love the decor! Gold is definitely classy and striking.

GETTING AROUND

Getting around in Shenzhen is easy if you have the Chinese name of your destination. This is necessary as most locals don’t speak english and to ensure a stress free outing. The price of the taxi rides in Shenzhen or in China is cheap when compared to Macau. On our first night we went to Sea world in Shekou District to eat and unwind. You will find a massive ship that has been converted to a hotel. While there are variety of restaurants and bars surrounding it that you can choose from.

Shenzhen Sea World! No, you won’t see any sea creatures here. Expect bars and restaurants.

We strolled around the area prior to get acquainted with Shenzhen. We end up with an awesome view of the marina and a beautiful sunset.

FINAL THOUGHTS

If you are looking for a place to stay in Shenzhen and you want to save yourself from all the trouble going to the city, I highly recommend Ascott Raffles City. Its is the perfect combination of affordability, accessibility and comfort. It was a quiet stay and doing groceries was not a problem since the hotel is connected to the mall.

Our stay in Ascott Raffles City was pleasant and we hope to come back again in the future. For clarity, my review and opinions are my own.

Please feel free to share this article and spread the love of traveling! <3
