Coast, one of the restaurants in the newly opened MGM Cotai brings the carefree spirit of America’s West Coast to a pinch-sized Portuguese colony in Southern China.

The sit-back California’s lifestyle inspires the restaurant’s name, and it’s vibe.  As Macau continuously innovating with its culinary adventure; Coast is expecting to change the dining scene in the countries luxurious gaming lifestyle.

Even though Macau progressed tremendously and lived up to its name as the “Las Vegas of Asia”; one can not deny the fact that the culinary has genuinely evolved. Over the course of time, more famous Michelin starred chefs have been coming and changing the gastronomic scene in the country. It has also provided a unique and one of a kind culinary adventure for foodies, locals and international tourists.

Cute ornaments on each table Airy dining room

Graham Elliot, known as the white-glasses wearing judge chef in Americas hit cooking show namely MasterChef, MasterChef Junior, and Top Chef. He wishes the restaurant to embody the California spirit and bringing the lifestyle of the west coast to Macau. It’s surprising to see servers wearing Chef Graham’s signature white-glasses that make the restaurant stands out. It gives you the feeling, just as if Graham Elliot serving you.

As I walk towards our table, I can’t help to be impressed with the excellent array of decor selections. From the sleek tables which are perfect for a comfortable conversation,  beautiful combination of pendant and black metal vintage lightings that adds drama to the restaurant, and light and airy dining room.

One of a kind Chef Graham’s Truffle Popcorn

They have served us a delicious Chef Graham’s signature truffle’s popcorn while waiting for the orders. Such a treat!  The servers were beaming with smiles and give you top hospitality, exactly as what I expect in a comfortable and relax setting of Coast. There’s a massive window glass at the back of the restaurant, to which we are near seated, giving natural light to contrast the yellow light from the lightings inside.

Straightforward yet delicious Spam and Fried Egg Slider

It is surprisingly laid-back at Coast! We are a group of four and tried a broad selection of the signature dishes. The Spam and fried egg slider directly hit home. For one thing, it reminds me of the laid back Sunday mornings joy. On the other hand, the Smoke Salmon Tartine is a hit or miss. There’s no special with the flavor, in fact, I find it easy that you can remake the dish in your kitchen. Meanwhile, I regard the  Shrimp Taco Mango Salsa bursting with flavors. In brief for appetizers, I’m impressed how the food presented and it’s not exceedingly trying too hard to impress the customers.

Our appetizers: Spam and Fried Egg Sliders, Smoked Salmon Tartine with Sevruga Caviar and Dill Cream, and Shrimp Taco with Mango Salsa

We enjoyed our time and each other’s company, undeniably a right place to be comfortable and to catch up. The African Chicken 2.0 is tender and tasty, the fusion of Portuguese and Macanese flavors gives a good texture. The Grahamburger have an enticing flavor and notably sweet, tangy taste of the roasted garlic mayo surely adding a unique character. The Lobster Risotto is far the creamiest and lightest tasting Risotto that I have tasted so far. And lastly, the Linguini with roasted clam is light, and the flavor was crisp. The fennel sauce delightedly compliments the roasted shellfish.

IN SUMMARY

Overall, we had an enjoyable experience at Coast! It’s exceptionally lax and exemplifies comfortable dining experience, to relish with family and friends. It’s surprising that the servings are a bit small;  despite it, the food is flavorful and affordable. Additionally, it is visible that Coast is one of many restaurants that will thrive in the culinary adventures in Macau. It is adorable to see  Chef Graham’s personality mirrors into his staff. I firmly believe that Coast will be the newest gastronomic destination in Macau. It is the latest destination, where foodies and Instagrammers come together to enjoy the food and taking pictures of everything. Just like we did!
